According to sources very close to the project ( as reported by Wired ), Google’s Andy Rubin has been in talks with various music labels about a music service that the search giant has been trying to launch. Foursquare + Vlingo + Android = Voice Check-ins

A new partnership with Foursquare will give Vlingo (voice search app) the ability to check in to local places by voice. In addition to standard Vlingo features like texting, emailing and web search, users can now prompt check-ins by simply saying “check in at Fred’s”. There are a number of other function such as saying “who’s nearby?” to see what friends have checked in nearby. I am very excited. Microsoft Launches Bing for Mobile Android App

Microsoft is taking a step in the right mobile-searching direction with the release of their new Bing for Mobile Android application. Today Bing announced on their blog that the app was, as on right now, only available for Verizon customers and could be downloaded for free from the Verizon Android Marketplace. Google defends Android Market licensing server

A licensing system meant to ensure Android applications were properly downloaded has been hacked, and Google is looking into the issue. Google introduced a new licensing system for the Android Market in late July in response to concerns that it was too easy to obtain Android applications without paying for them or without proper authorization. However, that system itself can be bypassed relatively easily by someone with a little bit of coding knowledge, according to an investigation done by Android Police.

Two Silicon Valley heavyweights are about to reenact the Java wars: this time, in a court room. Oracle issued a press release late Thursday saying it has filed suit against Google for infringing on copyrights and patents related to Java, which Oracle acquired along with Sun Microsystems earlier this year. The terse release claimed Google “knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle’s Java-related intellectual property.”
